Leadership cannot be given. It has to be earned with respect and integrity. There is no question that something is happening in America. There is a movement, a movement that I helped give birth to, that creates the conditions and the climate for change. I have always been a fighter. I was born to fight, and I want to assure the people for the 5th Congressional District that I will continue to fight for what is right, what is fair, and what is just in the halls of the U.S. Congress. I know bridges. I am a bridge builder. I continue to build bridges, and I seek to build new bridges.

I will continue to show leadership as an outspoken opponent of the war in Iraq. I will use all my energy, all my power, and my vote to help pull our economy back from the edge of recession, help save constituents homes from foreclosure, fight for universal healthcare, help find solutions to our transportation challenges, and continue to send millions of dollars in federal resources back to the Atlanta metro area to help its development and its people.
